Diaper Stash 3.0

1 Mar

Rambling thoughts about getting organized to start using cloth at daycare.

I have:

5 Thirsties: Blackbird (print), Meadow, Storm Cloud, Mango, Ocean
3 Applecheeks: Cherry Tomato, St. Lucia, Mrs. Robinson
6 BumGenius Elemental/Organic: White, Grasshopper, Twilight (2), Clementine, Moonbeam
1 Bumgenius: white random
4 GroVia: Kiwi, Vanilla, Seaside Stripes, Airplanes
2 Monkey Snuggles fitteds – Polka Dot Pup, Baby Pirates, Chocolate Chip Cookie (hoping to sell these soon)
3 Goodmama: Robots, Fuzzy Ooga, Blue Ooga
1 Twinkie Tush: Bella’s Field

Wool:
SBish Sprout Longies
SBish Carbon Soaker
MS Longies

I think I need another 5-6 Thirsties for school. They’re easy to use, I don’t have to worry about taking our the inserts at home and they’re pretty affordable. I need 2 pail liners, a trash can and that should do it. I’m planning to send him in an AppleCheek or BG Elemental in the morning and then have them use the aplix diapers during the day. We typically use the fitteds for overnight – I’d like another 1-2 of those once I sell the Monkey Snuggles (they just don’t fit him well). I’m so excited about not having to buy disposables anymore. Canceling that subscribe and save subscription will be a great thing!

UPDATED: Destashing the cloth diaper stash

14 Jan

I’ve dropped some prices – buy my diapers, please!

Time to get rid of some of the stash. Here’s what I have:

GroVia shell in Vanilla (aplix) with 4 soakers – I’d like $18 for the lot

AppleCheeks little bundle size 2 in Orange Zest – $18

(2) Happy Hempy OS fitted diapers with Aplix – these have been prepped and worn twice. They just don’t fit MC very well. $12 each.

(2) Bum Essentials Bumbinos – one in Rockin Red, one in Sunshine Yellow. Very good condition but some fuzzy aplix. I liked these a lot when MC was younger but they rub his belly now. $7 each.

I also have 4 Happy Heiny cloth pocket trainers, all size small. Hot pink, light pink, candy pink and lavender. The pinks don’t have any snaps, the lavender has snaps on one size. These were worn for maybe two weeks before MM was completely in underpants. I’d like $10 each or 2 for $18.

Prices are negotiable, especially if you want more than one diaper. This stuff has to go! Leave a comment or email me directly at cnapierk @ aol . com.

We just started using cloth overnight again. So far, so good – no leaks! I’ve used an Applecheeks cover with the bamboo flat, a Happy Heinys Stuffin’ and a hemp doubler laid sideways in the front with great success. Last night I used our lone 3.0 with a newborn MF insert, HH Stuffin with the little insert sideways. I can’t wait to use the wool once my fitteds all arrive. I have store credit with Abby – I’m thinking about trying a 4.0 to see how I like it.

I’m still on the fence with taking cloth to Florida this week. I think once I start packing and see how much room I have left in the suitcase the decision will be made.

Black Friday/Cyber Monday

1 Dec

Is there a cutesy name for the days following BF & CM when the postman/UPS driver/FedEx driver deliver all of the goodies? Terrific Tuesday. Wonderful Wednesday. Thankful Thursday. Fabulous Friday.

I didn’t do a whole lot of shopping but I did get caught up in some of the fantastic cloth diaper related deals. So far I’ve received:
1 – Flip Cover (sweet – lt green)
2 – Flip Inserts
1 – Vanilla GroVia shell set
4 – GroVia soakers
3 – samples of Rockin’ Green Hard Rock in Mighty Might Marshmellow

I’m waiting on a Jingle Bell Rock package from RNG and a Cotton Babies grab bag – I hope these will come in shortly.

Sort of cloth diaper related, our cleaning lady misplaced 2 of my dryer balls. 😦 I’ve been wanting to get a couple of more anyway so I figured I’d give DIY a shot. I went to our local craftstore and picked up some wool yarn and got to rolling. So far, so good. The 3 that I made are in the dryer now and are hopefully felted and ready for a load of newly arrived fluff that needs to be prepped. Woohoo!

Well how about that?

16 Nov

I got my first postpartum period. And suddenly everything makes sense. The mood swings, the crappy skin, the bloat. Sigh. I had a feeling it was coming and yet it still took me by surprise.

I dusted off the ol’ diva cup and let me just tell you that inserting that thing is NOT just like riding a bike. Every time took a couple of tries – here’s hoping that next time won’t be so hard.

The unfortunate thing about getting my period is that now I’m faced with the possibility of getting pregnant again. Do we want to? When? Can I? I’ve learned to take nothing for granted when it comes to fertility. I’d hate to get my heart set on having a third only to encounter the same difficulties we had with MM. It would be so easy to stop at two. After all, I have a boy and a girl – there no reason to keep on procreating, right? Our house is a good size for two. It would be less expensive for traveling, college – hell, even food – but I love me a newborn baby. And I want a homebirth. And we already invested in cloth diapers!

But what about daycare expenses? Those would increase significantly. Wanting a homebirth is not a good enough reason to go through another pregnancy (assuming I can get pregnant, of course). But my heart doesn’t feel like we’re done yet. I think I want one more tiny one to marvel over. One tiny nursling that will sleep on my chest. One more babe to stare at while she sleeps curled up next to me.

Update on diaper stash

4 Nov

I’ve been able to sell off a bunch of my least favorites.  This is what I have left:

Thirsties Duo Diapers: Blackbird (print), Meadow, Storm Cloud, Mango

Applecheeks: Cherry Tomato, Orange Zest, St. Lucia, Mrs. Robinson

BumGenius Elemental/Organic: White, Grasshopper, Twilight (2), Clementine, Moonbeam

GroVia: Kiwi, Mandarin, Vanilla, Seaside Stripes

Butterbears: Blue tiedye

Bum Essentials: Red, Yellow

That’s 21 diapers, not counting the additional GroVia & Bum Essentials inserts that can be used if the shells are okay.  That should be plenty considering MC is in disposables Tues-Thurs and overnight most of the time.  Right?  Then why am I itching for a Chocolate Espresso AppleCheeks and one of the new GroVia prints once its released.

So much for saving money by using cloth!

Here I am.

26 Sep

It’s been a while. Things have slowed down at work so I’m hoping to get settled into a regular blogging routine. In the meantime I’ll kick things off with a snapshot of what’s been going on.

MM: almost totally potty trained. She napped in underpants today and woke up dry! She’s totally rocking the whole underpants thing and is absolutely adorable as she scoots herself onto the toilet. It involves tiptoes, skootching one butt cheek onto the potty at a time and wiggling. Awesome.

She’s taking a dance class at daycare one day a week. She loves it. She’s doing really well at school! I was nervous because they moved to a new building, her favorite teacher left the her two BFFs moved up to the three year old room. The director approached me to see if I wanted to move her when up as well – she was only 2.5 and would be the youngest in her class. She’s doing great and is learning so much! I’m so proud of how sweet and compassionate she is.

MC: also doing awesome. I had to go out of town last week for four nights. That was the first time I left MC overnight and the second time for MM. MIL came in to help Daddy and they all survived. MC did NOT wean which was my biggest fear. He did come down with a double ear infection and a heinous diaper rash in my absence but seems to be recovering nicely.

I need to strip his diapers. Any advice? I have some RLR on its way – hopefully that will do the trick. He’s been out of cloth for two weeks now and I’m missing the fluff.

He’s fully immersed in baby led weaning and loves his food. His favorite is frozen peas/carrots. I can’t believe how much he eats – it’s crazy. He’s up to 7 teeth now and is really, really fast on all fours. No consistent words yet but he babbled constantly. Sleep is still crap. I’m trying to start the night with him in his crib but I really do miss the snuggling.

As I mentioned I was out of town for four nights. It was hard to be away, especially the pumping. I had no idea what to aim for in the freezer so I set my sights on 200 oz. It was more than enough – they went through 120 oz. I brought about 60 home with me so i still have quite a bit to fall back upon.

MC is up and hungry. Gots to go.
